Some good, some bad, some truly ugly, and worries about what’s next

Pride colors on a brick wall, including a heart with many boundaries.

Baseball gave me something good to show you. I finally found I had a little time and energy after a horrible Monday.

That’s not the only good news from the sports world.

AB Hernandez shared a podium in long jump, high jump and triple jump in the CIF state track and field finals Saturday, an image of unity between teenage girls.

In an exclusive Chronicle interview, Nereyda Hernandez, mother of trans athlete AB Hernandez, said supporting her daughter prompted her to rethink her politics.

San Francisco Chronicle stories are behind a paywall, yes, but you can probably find out more from other reputable news organizations.

I wanted you to see that before moving on to the bad stuff.

The bad stuff

I’ll be talking a lot more about this, mostly through the voices of others. You’ve been warned.

For trans people on Medicaid, Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” is anything but.

With that in mind, please help the Trans Journalists Association fundraiser if you can. You could save lives.

And you could help us set people straight about crap like this.

No one is mutilating children under the guise of gender-affirming care. Based on some of the questions I get, people I know fall for all kinds of disinformation.

That’s

how

we

got

here.

Sigh.

These people are just wrong about literally everything.

Zooming in.

Fox News' Arroyo: Nobody wants to hear that. Mr. Rogers didn't lecture kids and Russia or Iran or the nuclear threat. It's not your job. Miss Rachel, you don't know anything about the Middle East.. shhh

Headline from 2018: When Mr. Rogers Taught Kids About Mutually Assured Nuclear Destruction.

Looking ahead

Leading off the week in trans news we’re talking about US vs Skrmetti, the Supreme Court case hanging like a cloud over Pride month.

Skrmetti carries the potential to reverse a prior decision which said anti-LGBT discrimination is discrimination based on sex.

Here, have some flags.

A handy-dandy Pride Flag reference, for those who are curious about what each and all of the different Pride Flags mean.

When we say human sexuality isn’t a binary, but exists along many different complex spectrums, this is what we mean. And this is by no means complete or comprehensive.

This year, Pride Month is more important than ever. As we push back against efforts to suppress the LGBTQIA+ community, we celebrate in defiance of those who would erase them from history and society. May the bigots have a miserable month of remembrance!

But yes, we’re in trouble

Hurricane season is here. Uh-oh.

Cuts have consequences, illustrated. As seen on TV 📺
