After months of reflection, I’m leaving The Athletic and The New York Times Company. The decision is mine. My last day will be tomorrow, Feb. 2, eight days after the fifth anniversary of my first day on the job.
I won’t be answering questions about this decision or sharing details of the process that led to it, but I wanted to give you this news.
The timing is right and allows me to be selective about the opportunities in front of me, including freelance writing, editing, proofreading, and much more. I’m excited to tell you about the future when that’s appropriate.
Many thanks to everyone at both companies who made me feel safe around them, and all of the others who helped me survive 2025. The world needs more of you. I wish you the best.
Sending love. Protect your peace.
